BOOKS & WRITING

I write about the things we're told not to talk about: God, death, violence, love, sex, failure, absurdity, and what it means to be alive.

Some of it is philosophy. Some of it is fiction. Some of it I'm still trying to figure out.

THE TRUTH ABOUT ALL THINGS

A children's book for adults about God, suffering, loneliness, and the possibility that everything around us may be trying to tell us something.

A simple man goes looking for answers and discovers that perhaps the universe was speaking to him all along.

THE BARTENDER

A novel about the people who walk into a bar looking for a drink and find something else.

Inside a bar called Nowhere, a nameless bartender serves mezcal, listens to confessions, tells uncomfortable truths, and tries to make sense of the strange creatures sitting across from him.

Part novel, part philosophy, and part sermon from behind the bar, The Bartender is about love, violence, sex, grief, identity, God, and the absurd business of being human.

LOWDOWN

Lowdown is my downward spiral into the things we’re not supposed to say.

Jokes, observations, bad ideas, uncomfortable truths, and whatever else crawls out when good taste leaves the room.

The point is to be funny. The point is also to offend. Lowdown is where I test the boundaries of humor and how much we’re willing to tolerate when there are no sacred subjects, no protected ideas, and no rules about where a joke is allowed to go.

Some people laugh. Some people get angry. A few have threatened to kill me.

So apparently it’s working.

THE PSYCHO PATH

A self help book for the criminally insane. A way to look at a mad world with clarity and distance.

THE FLAWED MESSIAH SERIES

A three-part epic about God, love, violence, revolution, and the end of the world.

When a man searching for truth becomes the unlikely center of a growing spiritual movement, his ideas begin spreading through a world already coming apart.

He is no prophet. He is angry, contradictory, violent, compassionate, self-destructive, and desperately searching for something he can call truth. Then he falls in love with a woman who changes the direction of his life, and what begins as one man's search for meaning becomes something neither of them intended—a revolution.

As governments fracture and old beliefs begin to collapse, people start looking to him for answers he isn't certain he has.

The Flawed Messiah Series is a sprawling philosophical epic about what happens when humanity stops asking which God is real and begins asking a far more dangerous question:

What if we no longer need one?

COMMON MIRACLES

A children's book for adults about the miracles hiding inside ordinary life.

Told through the eyes of a young girl who wonders why adults stopped seeing them, Common Miracles is about coincidence, mystery, God, and the strange moments we explain away because calling them miracles makes us uncomfortable.

BARMAN

A book about bartending with no recipes in it.

Told through true stories from strange and diverse bars around the world, Barman is about the things no bartending manual teaches you: drunks, fights, psychotic bosses, betrayal, love, fear, failure, and the hard lessons that come from spending a life serving people.

Part guidebook for young bartenders, part philosophy of life, Barman is ultimately about overcoming fear, understanding people, and the lifelong search for truth.
